Stormy Sea

This is particularly great if you’re a keen photographer who likes taking shots of the sea in all her moods.
Last night was the first time I’d been down at the South Head in stormy weather, and whilst being afraid (for the life of my camera, of course) at times, it had to be the coolest place in Wick at the time. The sea was hitting the harbour wall hard, forcing the water 30+ ft up into the air and the sound was nothing short of a furious rumble!
After a while I decided there was a high likelihood of me and my gear getting soaked, so I moved up to the ground at the Bremner memorial. When I got there at around 19:45 the light was fading fast, giving me the perfect opportunity to try some wide-angle long exposure shots of the rough sea from above the old RNLI Lifeboat shed. I splayed the legs of the tripod out to get the camera as low to the ground as possible and placed my knee on top of the leg closest to me to add some weight.
Comparing this sea state to the day before taking these photos, the mood is at polar opposites, and this is one of the greatest things about the sea, it’s rarely the same!
