Hitech 85 ND Grad Filter

After purchasing the Hitech 85 ND Grad Filter (ND 0.9 soft edge) I have to say I’m suitably impressed! For £22.00 there would’ve been very little to complain about no matter what, especially when you take into consideration the price of high-end grads, the likes of Lee and Singh Ray.

My test was conducted at sunrise, and although a reverse ND grad may have been better for this, the standard issue filter worked just fine. I could see no extreme colour cast in the image, which is often the pitfall of using cheaper filters. The following shots were taken hand-holding the filter in front of a Canon 17-40mm f/4.0 L USM. See what you think for yourself.

Yes, I’m happy with my £22 investment :)
