Dawn of The Half-Dead

My head had hardly hit the pillow before I woke to the sound of the alarm, bleary-eyed would be an understatement!
Got up, some food, a cup of coffee, checked gear, checked battery, packed tripod – small “toot” of a car horn outside indicated Michael’s arrival and we were off to Proudfoot to await the sun’s arrival from under the horizon.
Proudfoot is a large outcrop of rocks on the North Head of Wick Bay. It has been responsible for wrecking more than a few boats that have come too close.
The best part of sunrise for me is the bit just minutes before the sun breaches the horizon until the part where it looks like it’s sitting right on the horizon line… miss this and you’ve missed the bit you abandoned your bed to photograph.
We were there right on time – tripods set up… click click…
So, there you go, an approximate 18 minute window of opportunity for the best of the sunrise. A good morning in spite of the mild hangover, freezing cold and slippery rocks :)
