A full moon

The full moon and water – what a combination! I came straight home from work, and went straight out the door to catch the moon while it was still fairly close to the horizon, allowing me to get a reasonable amount of landscape in the shot.

This was one of those times when I found spot metering to be of service as I wanted to have the foreground properly exposed against the backdrop of the bright light coming from the low full moon. Without spot metering I would have ended up with the foreground silhouetted against the bright sky.

As an aside, I have found that my Canon Flash Speedlite Wireless Remote Transmitter ST-E2 is very useful for focussing on the dark foreground, due to it omitting the AF assist beam… of course, a torch is just as good for this :)
